Club Charity Run

Thank you to everyone who supported the club charity run last night.  Around £200 was raised for the Friends of Blaise.

It may have been a little damp at the start, but the youngsters return to the clubhouse was greeted with a great rainbow.  The seniors missed out on the rainbow, and took out their frustration on the photographer...

Kings Weston Junior Parkrun Gets Off to a Great Start

IMG_0395_aDespite torrential rain before the event, 28 youngsters turned out for the inaugural Kings Weston Parkrun on Sunday.  In the end the storm abated, leaving just the odd muddy puddle in the way of our brave juniors.  Many congratulations to all participants, to Warren Pickles for making the event happen, and to all the volunteers.  Results are already online here: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/kingsweston-juniors/results/latestresults/

This event is now weekly, on a great, scenic course, and we hope to see more youngsters giving it a go.  Don't forget to register before your first time, print and bring your barcode along, and present it with your finishers disk after you've finished (a couple of 'Unknown' in the results probably didn't hand in their disk and barcode).

We're also looking for volunteers to help in future weeks.  It doesn't have to be every week; even if you just helped out once a month that would be great.  Please sign up as a volunteer on the Parkrun website with the dates you can make.

Members of the Month

Many congratulations to our members of the month:

  • Colin Johnson for resurrecting our presence at the Welsh Castles Relay (in inimitable style); and
  • Ellie Wallace, Hannah Hobbs and Ellie Leather, who finished an amazing 4th, 6th and 7th in the English Schools 1500m championships in Gateshead.

Up and Running gift vouchers will be winging their way to you.

River Avon Bristol to Bath Trail Run

Dear All just wanted to give you an update on this Saturdays River Avon Bristol Bath Trail run. As I explained we plan to meet in front of Temple Meads Station for a planned set off time of 10am. There is plenty of parking near or at the station if you wanted to leave a car. Joe has kindly agreed to drive any bags over to Bath in her car so try and get there a bit early to hand over any kit. Suggest a change of kit to change into when you arrive at Bath. If anyone is interested the details of the route are on this link pages 19 onwards for us.

I will also book the Bath Brew House Pub for food. Please confirm that you will want food so I can book numbers with them. We will complete the run between 12.30 and 1.00pm and I will get Jo to park in the open air car park just before Bath Spa Station to meet up with us and hand back any kit. Then off to the Brew House to rehydrate/food then back on the train to Temple Meads. (I will be on a bike as my calf is still not letting me run more than 3 miles so a bit peeved not to be running.)

Let Colin know if you want food, otherwise see you Sat morning!!
