Westbury Harriers AGM

The Westbury Harriers AGM will take place on Monday, March 14th after training at Coombe Dingle Sports Pavilion.

This is your opportunity to:

  • hear what your club has done over the past year
  • understand how the money been spent
  • elect the people you want to run the club for the next year
  • raise any issues and discuss them with other club members

If you want any item in particular discussed at the meeting, you can either ask for it to be put on the agenda by letting current club secretary Geraint Torrington know by Monday, March 7th, or you can raise it on the night in the “Any other business?” section.

Please make every effort to attend the meeting and help shape the future of our great club.

Bristol 10K 2016 – club discount

The Bristol 10K takes place on Sunday, May 15th 2015 and the organisers are offering clubs a 20% discount on entries. If we get 20 members or more the entry fee will be £22.40 instead of £28. We must get at least 20 entries for the discount to be applicable; we have exceeded this number massively in the past so this is not expected to be a problem.

So what’s the process you have to follow?

  • You must be a fully paid up member of the club.
  • You can pay using 3 different methods:
    • By PayPal – send a payment to torrington@blueyonder.co.ukfor £22.40. Use the “I’m sending money to family or friends” and not “I’m paying for goods or services”– Geraint is not a merchant and will not accept any additional charges; if £22.40 is not on his account he will not process the entry. Send an email to secretary@westburyharriers.co.uk from the email address that you’d like the organisers to send your access code to indicating that you’ve paid via PayPal.
    • By bank transfer – Geraint’s bank details are GH & SE TORRINGTON, 30-93-53 00722429. Please make sure that you know the reference and send it in an email to secretary@westburyharriers.co.ukfrom the email address that you’d like the organisers to send your access code to.
    • Write a cheque made payable to Geraint Torrington for £22.40. Write your name, email address and contact number CLEARLY on the back. If these details are not on the back of the cheque or not clear your cheque will be returned.  Cash will not be accepted by Geraint. Give your cheque to club secretary Geraint Torrington on a Monday night (Geraint can’t generally make Thursdays) or post it to him at 41A Sherbourne Avenue, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 8DX.
  • Entries need to be with Geraint by end of Saturday, March 5th 2016; no late entries will be accepted.
  • When the entries have been received they will be sent to the organisers in one block. An email will be sent to the entrant with details of how to enter. NOTE:  Your entry to the race is NOT complete until you enter online. Sending the payment in does not mean you are entered.

Muddy XC in Monmouth

The start of the Senior Men's race

The start of the Senior Men's race

Well done to everyone who took part in the penultimate Gwent League XC on Saturday in Monmouth in chilly, wet and muddy conditions!

Many Westbury juniors were away for half-term, but those that were able to run put in some great performances, with Ellie Wallace and Rosie Allen taking first and second places respectively in the U17/U20 race.

The Senior Ladies tackled a slightly longer course than usual, but many had their best run of the season so far. Katie Hughes led the squad home with an impressive run to finish just outside the top ten, while new member Kate Young ran her first ever XC race to finish in an excellent 67th place. Mother and daughter duo, Anneke and Caroline Bull, finished together shortly behind.

Abdi Hasan went on to place second place in the U15 race
