Blaise Blazer needs volunteers

It was great seeing everyone again at Blaise on Monday!
If like me you think that the Blaise estate is still geologically active and those hills are getting bigger, then come and help marshal on the first Blaise Blazer on Monday 6th June!
Entries open from 6.15, so if you are free come along early and help Sandra, or help mark out the course.....there was a club vote to have 3 events so we need more people to learn the ropes and help out, it would be unfair if the same people have to do all the work!
If you are helping at all 3 events then we will need someone to log entries and results on the computer and timekeepers.
Scott has worked out a great new route (still hilly, sorry) so that the finish is at the clubhouse.....so stick around and cheer all the runners in!
The other 2 dates are 4th July and 1st August.

Contact Carol Fee on volunteers@westburyharriers.co.uk or via the facebook page.

Charity nominations

The Blaise Blazer will have some masseurs available at each of the races and instead of charging for their services they will be asking for donations to a charity of our choice and that's where you, the members, come in.

If you'd like to put a charity of your choice forward for a members vote, please send an email to charity@westburyharriers.co.uk by midnight, Sunday 29th May. The voting for the charity will then take place until midnight on Sunday, June 5th.

Any donations received at the 3 Blaise Blazers and our end of summer run will go to the nominated charity. So get your charity nominations in!

Events section of Westbury website refreshed

The events section of the Westbury website has been refreshed.

Details of lots of local events have now been placed onto the website; as well as dates for some of the more high profile national ones too. All members are encouraged to check out the races that have been uploaded, get ideas for new places to run and to suggest a favourite that may have been missed.

See link here: http://westburyharriers.com/events/

If you have an idea for a race to be added to the events calendar email Emma on communication@westburyharriers.co.uk

Bristol 10k / Avon 10k Champs

Weather is looking good for those running the Bristol 10k on Sunday. Have a good run and hope to see Westbury runners in the Athletes Village.

For those who are not running Bristol (or can do two 10k races in two days !) the Avon 10k championships takes place on Monday in Yate in conjunction with the Hogweed Trot 10k.   See link http://hogweedtrotters.co.uk/hogweed-trot-10k/

It's a good course and there are medals (Gold Silver and Bronze - in nice presentation cases !) for outright winners and age groups Vet 40, Vet 50 and Vet 60.   I will be there but, due to injury, will be taking camera instead of running kit - so try to smile when you're doing your sprint finish !

Races are coming thick and fast at the moment. Nice race on Tuesday if you fancy a short evening race - Sri Chinmoy 2 miler in Eastville Park at 7.30.   See link :   http://uk.srichinmoyraces.org/races/bristol#event-second-section

Enjoy your racing.

Entries Now Open for the Blaise Blazer and Westbury Wipeout

Online entries are now open for the Blaise Blazer and Westbury Wipeout.  The Blaise Blazer (minimum age 15), held on the first Monday in June, July and August, features an updated course this year, taking the short, sharp hill up to the folly from Kings Weston Down, and then a sizzling, winding downhill path back to the new finish at the club house.  The Westbury Wipeout (youngsters 8 - 15), held on Monday 11th June, follows the well-established route along the woods, streams and banks of the main gorge.

Please visit the Events pages on the Westbury Harriers website for more details.

Lots of helpers will be needed for both these events - if you can lend a hand, please email volunteers@westburyharriers.co.uk
